Description Yill Din 2014-10-18 19:37:03 UTC
Hi in this laptop the touchpad is being recognized wrongly as a "PS/2 Logitech Wheel Mouse", rather than as a touchpad.
In this configuration it only works to move the pointer or clicking, all the advanced features (multi-touch, pinch, zoom, scroll...) can't be properly configured.

This is the output of xinput:
⎡ Virtual core pointer id=2	[master pointer (3)]
⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4	[slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ PS/2 Logitech Wheel Mouse id=14	[slave pointer (2)]
⎣ Virtual core keyboard id=3	[master keyboard (2)]
↳ Virtual core XTEST keyboard id=5	[slave keyboard (3)]
    ↳ Power Button id=6	[slave keyboard (3)]
    ↳ Video Bus id=7	[slave keyboard (3)]
    ↳ Video Bus id=8	[slave keyboard (3)]
    ↳ Sleep Button id=9	[slave keyboard (3)]
↳ Asus WMI hotkeys id=10	[slave keyboard (3)]
↳ AT Translated Set 2 keyboard id=11	[slave keyboard (3)]
    ↳ USB2.0 UVC HD Webcam id=12	[slave keyboard (3)]

Please let me know if you need specific output/logs or info.

I have exactly the same issue on an Asus UX303LN ultrabook. I am assuming they will be similar touchpads and require the same kernel fix... If not, I will file a separate report.

Of course I am also willing to assist anyone who could try to fix this.

Sorry, this is fixed for me in version 3.18.0! Yill, please check on your hardware.

The problem is still present in my ASUS with kernel 3.18.1 in Arch Linux.

Seems like that a lot of laptops are affected.

Can you please try a new kernel, and also provide a dmesg?

Thanks,
