Description Andreas Jellinghaus 2006-12-03 23:39:53 UTC
Most recent kernel where this bug did *NOT* occur: 2.6.16.31 with xen 3.0.2
patches
Distribution: ubuntu, first dapper now edgy
Hardware Environment: msi s270 laptop with turion MT-40 cpu
Software Environment: allround laptop running kubuntu
Problem Description:
kernel crashs - screen turns white (or other color or stripes), is not
pingable, nothing in syslog or netconsole. does not happen with xen'ified
kernel, but happends with all vanilla kernels I tried (tried at least
2.6.15+). does not happen with memtest86+. does not happen while compiling
only (cpu stress) or watching videos. but does happen very fast with gui apps
like konqueror, firefox, thunderbird, kontakt etc.

Steps to reproduce:
boot, login, run gui app for a few minutes till crash.

I also documented this with all config files, dmesg etc here:
http://www.megawiki.org/wiki/S270Crashing

If you prefer I can attach all files here too.
