Please post the 'cat /proc/acpi/batttery/*/*' output. Please try the latest kernel version, 2.6.19-rc2-git3 is available now.
This case's symptoms are similar to ones represented in the resolved Bug 6980. Those workarounds should help here too.
Also, kernel version, 2.6.19-rc2-mm2 is available now too.
