Description Clemens Eisserer 2016-01-15 20:41:41 UTC
Since updating my Fedora-23 installation to kernel-4.3.3 (from 4.2.8) iwlwifi fails to load the firmware during boot on my dell latitude e7240 when wifi is disabled by the wifi-switch:

[ 12.109959] iwlwifi 0000:02:00.0: Failed to load firmware chunk!
[ 12.109964] iwlwifi 0000:02:00.0: Could not load the [0] uCode section
[ 12.109971] iwlwifi 0000:02:00.0: Failed to start INIT ucode: -110
[ 12.110369] iwlwifi 0000:02:00.0: Failed to run INIT ucode: -110
[ 12.110446] iwlwifi 0000:02:00.0: L1 Enabled - LTR Enabled

With 4.2.8 this worked fine, so I guess it is a regression.

please attach the full dmesg output.
I need to know what firmware version you are trying to load.
Comment 2 Emmanuel Grumbach 2016-01-16 20:32:06 UTC
Is the failure reproducible by using the wifi-switch only, or even when you boot you have the same problem?
Comment 3 Clemens Eisserer 2016-01-16 20:53:44 UTC
For now I've only seen when the system is booted and wifi was disabled with the switch. Please find attached the dmesg-output of a successful and a failed boot.

Can you record tracing of both cases?
