Hmm. This driver basically bangs on some legacy IDE IO ports and tries 
to see if there's anything there. It seems like this machine doesn't 
like that very much.

Does it really make sense for this driver to be enabled for non-x86?

Generally no - there are some platforms with legacy ATA mappings however.

Probably the VLB probes should only be done on x86.

I'm tempted to close the bug as "So don't do that then" ?

I would like it if you disable this option on non-x68 architectures, because it's difficult to know that you should not enable it. Maybe a distribution enables it, because it's there and it's needed (useful) on x86.
