My DVD+/-RW ROM has no defects and i think that is a kernel bug. Steps to reproduce:
What is k3b's error message? Also could you post dmesg and kernel config for the working kernel?
Created attachment 19765 [details] Kernel config
k3b report me that any writable disk not found.
Borislav, any ideas on this one?
Well, I just tried burning a cd here with k3b and it worked just fine (2.6.29-rc1, hardware: Optiarc DVD RW AD-7173A). The error log above is very strange, ide-cd complains that the tray is open?? Also, what does "Latest working kernel version: 2.27.9" mean, maybe 2.6.27.9? It could be a follow-up error after fiddling with hdparm. Andrey, can you try burning after a fresh reboot without setting anything with hdparm? Thanks.
Sorry, realy latest working kernel is 2.6.27.9 . ide-cd complain that tray is open because k3b make it opened(k3b waiting for blank DVD+RW)! I try to format DVD+RW disks and it was successful. I change all BIOS settings to default, format DVD+RW and after fresh reboot burning was successful. But when i make quick format in Windows XP, and try to burn disk, I get error messages like in my 1st post! Borislav, do you have any ideas about it?
Ok, do the quick format in windows and boot into linux and try burning. Now send me the whole boot log from booting into linux up until after burning with k3b. Thanks.
I burn iso-image to disk and try to read it on Windows PC. Windows report me that disk is empty. It was hardware problem at windows pc, not linux. Thanks.
