Description juliusvonkohout 2011-08-08 17:24:26 UTC
im using 2.6.38 and 3.0
toshiba_acpi: Unknown key e00
ACPI Error: [GTF0] Namespace lookup failure, AE_NOT_FOUND (20110413/psargs-359)
[ 4.105203] ACPI Error: Method parse/execution failed
[\_SB_.PCI0.SAT0.PRT0._SDD] (Node ffff880148e47cd0), AE_NOT_FOUND
(20110413/psparse-536)

all error messages in attached dmesg.attached all acpitables and acpidump

furthermore when i plug out the power cord those logs appear:
keyboard: can't emulate rawmode for keycode 240
keyboard: can't emulate rawmode for keycode 240
toshiba_acpi: Unknown key e00.

as soon as i plug in the power cord i cannot acces any google sites anmore.pings and http request just time out. it works as soon as i emove the cord or use ethernet cable.that happens on any 3.0 kernel.i dont know if its related to acpi.

> [GTF0] Namespace lookup failure

GTF0 is not present in any of the tables attached.
Either the tables are broken, or we are not loading the
tables that the BIOS writer expects us to load.

The power chord issue may be yet a 3rd problem with this machine.
Does the system behave the same way if the toshiba_acpi
driver is not loaded?
Comment 5 juliusvonkohout 2011-08-08 19:16:10 UTC
my hope was that the dynamic tables would contain it....
the tables were from 2.6.38 shall i upload the 3.0 tables?

after rmmod toshiba_acpi (libacpi still there)

acpi=off was pointless....
Comment 7 juliusvonkohout 2011-08-12 12:49:07 UTC
is there anything else i cant try?or help you in any way?
Comment 8 Zhang Rui 2012-01-18 05:31:35 UTC
It's great that the kernel bugzilla is back.

Can you please verify if the problem still exists in the latest upstream
kernel?
Comment 9 juliusvonkohout 2012-01-18 16:37:56 UTC
y problem is still there
Comment 10 Steven Noonan 2012-09-18 06:56:52 UTC
I have the same GTF0 lookup failure on a Toshiba Portege Z830, running Linux 3.5.3. Looks like the ACPI table referencing GTF0 and GTF1 is SSDT1 (SataAhci). They're declared external, but they're not mentioned in DSDT at all.

Any ideas where in the GNVS it should reside?

Anything I can provide to help get this issue solved?
Comment 11 Marc Collin 2012-11-07 21:09:09 UTC
i have toshiba z830 and use kernel 3.6.5.

Hi juliusvonkohout@gmail.com(sorry I do not know your name),

According to the error message and the acpi tables, I think your table is broken. The GTF0/1 is not defined anywhere, but referenced in _SDD control method. When this control method gets run, it will access the GTF0/1, and that caused a run time namespace look up error, and that also caused the control method's execution failed. But I think this will not affect your SATA device, it should function correctly, right? What the BIOS people tried to do here is to set NCQ autosense feature for the drive.

And Steven & Marc,
I think you are having the same problem here, and I don't think there is anything Linux can do to avoid this, as the table is broken. If possible, you can contact Toshiba to ask them fix the SSDT1 table.

I'll mark this as not fix.
