From the first looks it seems that BIOS is not giving the proper Speedstep information to OS. I will have to look at acpidump in a bit more detail. Can you make sure you are running the latest BIOS and check whether BIOS has any option related to Enahanced Speedstep (May be called Intel EST or EIST or some such thing) is enabled. Thanks. OK, There is a BIOS update available. Will push that in and let you know more in the morning. In the meantime, I checked out the BIOS, no such options, but ACPI 2.0 is enabled, and so is APM. I also checked my motherboard manual which says that the motherboard supports EIST. OK, the BIOS update does clear it up. I'm getting cpufreq now.
