Fedora Core 4

Hardware Environment:

Athlon 1800XP (UP), 768MB RAM.
Creative Audigy 2 ZS PCI sound card.

Software Environment:

gcc version 4.0.1 20050727 (Red Hat 4.0.1-5)
xine (libxine1-1.1.0)

Problem Description:

When trying to play a DVD with 5.1 audio under xine, an error dialogue
pops up saying it can't access the sound device. Playing a DVD without 5.1
audio works fine.

This all works fine under 2.6.13


Steps to reproduce:

Play a DVD with 5.1 audio.

I don't think is a kernel or driver bug.

Make sure that you have no other process accessing the sound device concurrently.

Tried 2.6.14-rc1 and even dropped down to just X + an xterm and the same problem.

DVD's with 5.1 audo fail. DVD's without 5.1 audio work. Seems sometihng in the
ALSA update post 2.6.13 broke sometihng in xine, ogle and mplayer work with
DVD's with 5.1 audio under 2.6.14-rc1 but I'm not sure ho much they use the 5.1
stuff...

You likely need the latest version of alsa-lib.
