Distribution: Slackware 9.0 Hardware Environment: IBM T30 w/ Dock Problem Description: w/ ACPI patch from http://bugme.osdl.org/attachment.cgi?id=1361&action=view, ACPI works when T30 started in dock; when undock button pressed, dock does not power down, but physical lock is released. After removing T30, dock does power down. When T30 is put back into dock (hotdocked), machine hard-locks. Steps to reproduce: Patch 2.6.0-test9-bk21 kernel with http://bugme.osdl.org/attachment.cgi?id=1361&action=view , Start T30 in dock (w/ ACPI compiled and enabled in kernel); Press blue dock button to release physical docking lock. Remove T30; place T30 back into dock.
Here is a hack that allows the docking station to be undocked and redocked reliably. I cobbled this together based on a paper here: http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/hwdev/tech/onnow/acpidock.mspx

can you attach the dmesg and pci -vv before crash. in my T40, DOCK can't be enabled at all. Thanks.
Current ACPI php doesn't support docking station. I will mark this track deferred. as soon as I get a docking station, I will investigate it.
Ok, I got a docking station, and have some unmatured patch, will update the status later.
David, any news regarding this issue?
I used to have a workaround to make my T40 dock work, but I never made it clean. Reassign this to kristen, she is working on this.
patch for docking station support is in as of 2.6.16-rc2-mm1.
