Steps to reproduce: Not quite aware on how to reproduce the error. Sometimes it shows on login, sometimes it doesn't. The "kernel-oops" applet shows the error.

When did it happen:
---------------------
---> After installing openSUSE 11.1. First time I am seeing a "kernel failure" message. Ethernet/Internet was very good in openSUSE 11.0

---> Did not experience this problem in earlier kernel versions of openSUSE

---> Why in this kernel got this message?
Do not know the reason.

---> Why the kernel was compiled?
N/A

---> Any fruitful result after installing the compiled version?
N/A

---> Status of the machine?
It is currently working fine. But the internet speed has gone down drastically.

The "network card" eth0 is working fine. Kindly let me know if it is a serious
bug or not to be worried of.
Kindly advise on the steps if this "kernel failure" can be solved.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
If I have placed the bug in wrong section, kindly advise on the appropriate
section where this bug can be placed.

could be a duplicate of http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12086, at least both start failing with

Kernel failure message 1:
------------[ cut here ]------------
WARNING: at net/sched/sch_generic.c:219 dev_watchdog+0x12f/0x1d4()
NETDEV WATCHDOG: eth0 (atl1): transmit timed out
Comment 3 Roland Kletzing 2008-12-31 05:38:10 UTC
could be
http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=commit;h=b29be6d3f215ac42651545e89afecc7d9e6a10db

could you please try 2.6.28 kernel and report if it makes a difference ?
for opensuse, you can get such kernel from http://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/kernel/kotd/v2.6.28-staging/i586/

if 2.6.28 is no option, please consider recompiling your atlx module with that fix applied to the sources (as it seems it`s not yet in 2.6.27 stable)

Closing out stale bug
Comment 5 Roland Kletzing 2009-03-20 12:13:58 UTC
please reopen if this bug still exists in 2.6.28+ kernels and if you can provide the requested input.
