Latest working kernel version: unknown Distribution: Ubuntu Hardware Environment: Acer Extensa 5220 Problem Description: When I start my notebook from powered off, irdadump shows no responses to the queries. After booting XP and rebooting, irda works. Steps to reproduce: 1. Power off completely. 2. Boot Linux. 3. Irda does not work. 4. Reboot into windows. 5. Reboot into Linux. 6. Irda works. I will attach a diff of the output of lspci -vvxxxx before and after booting XP. I will also attach a diff of the dmesg outputs.
Created attachment 17771 [details] lspci -vvxxxx diff (side by side) created with "diff -y lspci-irda-prexp.log lspci-irda-postxp.log"
Created attachment 17784 [details] dmesg diff The side-by-side diff between a boot before (right) and after(left) booting windows xp. I didn't find anything significant.
Same problem here: kernel version: 2.6.27-7 Distribution: Ubuntu 8.10 "Intrepid" RC Hardware Environment: Acer Travelmate 660 Latest working kernel version: 2.6.24-21 (Ubuntu 8.04 "Hardy") I also use the nsc-ircc driver. But for me the described workaround didn't worked. irdadump works normal but shows no response to IrDA devices: 13:06:44.859888 xid:cmd 275add46 > ffffffff S=6 s=0 (14) 13:06:44.947887 xid:cmd 275add46 > ffffffff S=6 s=1 (14) 13:06:45.077212 xid:cmd 275add46 > ffffffff S=6 s=2 (14) 13:06:45.310054 xid:cmd 275add46 > ffffffff S=6 s=3 (14) 13:06:45.542879 xid:cmd 275add46 > ffffffff S=6 s=4 (14) 13:06:45.775723 xid:cmd 275add46 > ffffffff S=6 s=5 (14) 13:06:46.008585 xid:cmd 275add46 > ffffffff S=6 s=* zerocool hint=0400 [ Computer ] (24) c,Ya
Did IrDA work under Windows for you? Did you successfully use it there? Is it activated in your BIOS settings? I haven't tried this in 2.6.27 yet.
Yes, IrDA works for me under Windows. I use it to transeive files from my mobile phone and so it is activated in the BIOS of course.
Have you tried these things http://linux-tipps.blogspot.com/2008/09/using-irda-on-linux.html especially reducing the baud rate?
