Latest working kernel version: 2.6.26.1 Earliest failing kernel version: 2.6.26.2 Distribution: Gentoo Linux x86 Hardware Environment: Audigy 2 My Audigy 2 simply does not output any sound in 2.6.26.2, but it works in 2.6.26.1 or when I use 2.6.26.2 and revert commit 5c975097aed78c18bb8b0b122968a9c265e7e28b (ALSA: emu10k1 - Fix inverted Analog/Digital mixer switch on Audigy2). The strange thing is that my Audigy 2 is recognized as an Audigy 2 Platinum according to dmesg: #0: Audigy 2 Platinum [SB0240P] (rev.4, serial:0x10021102) at 0x9000, irq 16 But I definately do _not_ own the Platinum version! So maybe the mentioned changed in 2.6.26.2 is correct, but there is another (maybe older) bug that misdetects my Audigy 2 as an Audigy 2 Platinum.
Greg, no matter what the correct fix is this seems to be a revert candidate for 2.6.26.3?

I assume this bug is now also present in 2.6.27-rc?

Just to be sure - do you turn *off* "Audigy Analog/Digital Output Jack"? For analog outputs, this must be off. In the former versions, this switch was wrongly detected. Takashi

Ugh, that was the cause. When I turn this switch off everything works fine with 2.6.26.2 and 2.6.27-rc2. I did not know this switch and had previously only tried to change the volume sliders in alsamixer, sorry. Steffen
great, closing as invalid, thanks for letting us know.
