Description Cijoml Cijomlovic Cijomlov 2008-05-31 10:05:44 UTC
Latest working kernel version: 2.6.23.16
Earliest failing kernel version: 2.6.24
Distribution: Debian stable
Hardware Environment: Pentium 4 (HT)
Software Environment: Debian stable/ kaffeine 0.8.5
Problem Description:

Hello,
I have very bad problem with kernels above 2.6.24. Till my last working kernel 2.6.23.16 DVB-T playing with kaffeine worked like a charm with many different USB dongles.
After upgrade to 2.6.24 and all above versions kernel crashes in random time playing DVB. I tried switch off HT, but it didn't help. I tried bisect between 2.6.23 and 2.6.24 but without success - in first iteration kernel failed to compile. I also tried 2.6.25.4 with latest linuxtv.org git version, also crashes in one minute...and finally I see same behaviour with different dongles using different kernel drivers - but when I move back to 2.6.23, all of them works for infinite time (2 weaks in row) - so this isn't HW problem and it is not HW specific problem...

Can anybody help me find/track the problem?

Could you provide us more info, including what's the affected driver and post also the OOPS log?
Comment 4 Cijoml Cijomlovic Cijomlov 2008-06-12 12:34:43 UTC
Hello,

as I mentioned it happens with every driver I can test (dib3000, dib7700p, pluto2) so for me it looks like somewhere in layer above it.

I don't have any oops, kernel simply freezes and only reset button si way for me (no ping from second computer)
Comment 5 Alan 2010-01-19 17:54:54 UTC
hardware ? Can you duplicate it on multiple PCs ?
Comment 6 Cijoml Cijomlovic Cijomlov 2010-01-19 20:25:10 UTC
This doesn't happen again. Bu there is other problem in 2.6.32 kernel see:
