Power off the computer can only be done by pressing a power button after the freeze which happens after doing shutdown from UI or command line by executing "shutdown 0", "shutdown -P 0", etc. Doing shutdown the process executes nicely before the very end but then it just freezes. Not error log messages left. Launchbad bug report: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1058192

Could you try booting with the reboot=efi kernel parameter and see if things improve?
ping...
Created attachment 95901 [details] dmesg (of noefi boot) and decompiled acpi dsdt table Hello, (hope I'm not hijacking anything... However this bug fits the description) seems like I have been bitten by a similar bug. The desktop PC (Fujitsu Esprimo Q900 - I3-2350M, H61, 4Gig) does not power-off, it just freezes with no message. So, is there a way to debug the problem any further? Regards, Chr Note: Rebooting works... Although it takes ages (ok, about 15-20 seconds) before after the kernel says it's rebooting. Note2: I have already tried reboot=efi, force, bios, acpi and noefi (see attached dmesg) Note3: tried 2.6.32-5-amd64 (debian) and ia32 kernels 3.8.0, 3.8.2, 3.8.3 with the android patches... all with the same result.
