Description Chris Zimmermann 2015-05-07 13:47:59 UTC
wl.ko (part of the Broadcom hybrid driver for BCM 4331 and friends) causes system lockup after loading LKM.

Steps to reproduce:

- Build module in 3.17.8 with dkms,
- Reboot into kernel version 3.18 or later (to eliminate any other potential root cause for lockup),
- Install with dkms and insert into running kernel via modprobe,
- Systems locks up. No syslog / journald entries are generated.

Kernels tested: 3.18.12, 3.19.0-15/16, 4.0.1. Last kernel version known to work: 3.17.8.

Setting this to "high" as the only available alternative b43 has issues with certain router software (cf. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1236937) and only caters for b/g and not a/n.

Let me know if you need more details.
