Description cubicool 2015-01-28 03:44:00 UTC
Hello everyone! I am testing the GOBI 5000 card listed in the subject with Lenovo T440's and W540's. I am using 3.18, and have been having serious trouble getting this hardware to function.

I was speaking with Dan Williams, and he linked me to this thread.

https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47751

After doing some diagnostic testing (using mmcli, qmicli, and minicom to directly query the device when it is in USB configuration mode 1) we determined that since the device can never properly be set to "online" operating mode, it is likely a problem with the kernel and rfkill.

The following is the output of the command: at!pcinfo?

 State: LowPowerMode
 LPM force flags - W_DISABLE:0, User:0, Temp:0, Volt:0, BIOS:1, GOBIIM:0
 W_DISABLE: 0
 Poweroff mode: 0
 LPM Persistent: 0

I can provide any information anyone would like or need (including the output of any qmi commands), and I will try and link the NetworkMangager lists to this thread as well. Like most people, I'm desperate to get this hardware working, though without someone more experienced having access to it, I realize it's unlikely.

The ACPI spec doesn't define anything fancy for such a card, according to the linked bug reports, best bet is drivers-platform can add support for these things. Re-assign there.
