dmesg

Hi,

I'm running Slackware 14.1 x86_64 and I've compiled 3.10.33 and I noticed in
dmesg this output;

asus-nb-wmi: probe of asus-nb-wmi failed with error -5

Before this message it however says this;

input: Asus WMI hotkeys as /devices/platform/asus-nb-wmi/input/input7

So I'm not sure if it's being used or fails...

What does this probe fail mean?

For now I'm just attaching dmesg, please let me know what other logs if any
are needed?

Thank you...

I just noticed that some of the times asus-nb-wmi: probe of asus-nb-wmi failed with error -5 does not appear in the logs, so I'm not sure why this is now appearing intermittently.

One thing I noticed, not sure if it's related or not, but it seems like everytime I see this probe failed I also see these messages in the log too;

ACPI Error: [IIA0] Namespace lookup failure, AE_ALREADY_EXISTS (20130328/dsfield-211)
ACPI Error: Method parse/execution failed [\_SB_.ATKD.WMNB] (Node ffff880310c64a78), AE_ALREADY_EXISTS (20130328/psparse-537)

I'm now running 3.13.9 and I'm no longer seeing any failed messages, so it's looking good!
Comment 3 KernelBug 2014-06-02 04:22:47 UTC
I just compiled today 3.10.41 and it appeared again;

asus-nb-wmi: probe of asus-nb-wmi failed with error -5

I'm attached dmesg as; dmesg-3.10.41

I still see this problem in 3.10.64...

I'm running into a really bad USB bug that I'm not sure anyone knows anything about outside of the LTS kernels, so this is why I choose to stick with 3.10x, besides the fact, it also performs the best for me on my hardware.

Can you PLEASE get this fixed in 3.10x while it still exists as a LTS version?

thank you
