Distribution: Debian amd64 unstable Hardware Environment: palm Tx linked on USB, ehci_hcd module managing USB Software Environment: palmsync tools Problem Description: After a few connection on my palm tx (palm-xfer -p /dev/pilot -l), I see the following error appear in my /var/log/kern.log The device /dev/pilot is then unusable. Sep 13 15:46:40 localhost kernel: usb 1-4.4: new full speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 11 Sep 13 15:46:40 localhost kernel: usb 1-4.4: device descriptor read/64, error -71 Sep 13 15:46:40 localhost kernel: usb 1-4.4: device descriptor read/64, error -71 Sep 13 15:46:40 localhost kernel: usb 1-4.4: new full speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 12 Sep 13 15:46:41 localhost kernel: usb 1-4.4: device not accepting address 12, error -71 Sep 13 15:46:41 localhost kernel: usb 1-4.4: new full speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 13 Sep 13 15:46:41 localhost kernel: usb 1-4.4: device not accepting address 13, error -71 Sep 13 15:46:46 localhost kernel: usb 1-4.4: new full speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 14 Then it never ends up allocating a new address, it go until address 127 then starts again from 2 The first two connections on my palm goes fine, then it breaks. Unloading/Loading visor module does not make it work again.
does this bug still occure with the latest 2.6.20 kernel? If so could you please provide some more information: * lspci -vvv * lsusb -v * cat /proc/cpuinfo thanks, Markus
Frederic, I can encourage even try now with 2.6.22-rc4 - lots of USB fixes went in. If this still fails, can you please provide info requested in #1? Thanks, --Natalie
Thx for your answer Natalie, I compile/install 2.6.22-rc4 and give you a feedback ! Cheers, As a workaround I currently wifi to connect ;)
Frederic - How did the testing go, did you have chance to try the latest kernel? Thanks.
Closing this bug for now. Please reopen if any new updates, or if confirmed with latest kernel.
