Description Daniel 2006-07-31 13:51:34 UTC
Writing CDs or DVD with my external USB enclosure + BenQ DW-1610 sometimes fails
because of USB errors.
I noticed that even on successful burns there are resets of the USB drive
enclosure happening which I suspect are not normal.

Hardware: Thinkpad X31, USB 2.0 hubs connected to each root hub. Drive enclosure
attached to one of them.

If I manage to log the USB error messages on a complete write failure, I will
append them here, maybe meanwhile someone can comment on these resets?
Comment 1 Daniel 2006-08-31 14:27:57 UTC
Had it happen on a DVD+RW recently. Writing stopped with the kernel continuously
doing

kernel: usb 1-1.2: reset high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 5

Had to unload ehci_hcd to stop it.

Are you running HALD?
Comment 3 Daniel 2006-09-01 14:12:37 UTC
Yes, I do. (Running Gnome 2.14)
Comment 4 Matthew Dharm 2006-09-01 15:49:41 UTC
Try turning off hald.
