Some month ago I bought a new Notebook Acer Aspire V3-571G with Windows 8 , I installed ubuntu 12.04. and updated to 12.04.3. And I bought a new SD-card for my camera (Sandisk ExtremePro 32GB). It doesn't work with ubuntu. With Windows 8 it works fine. My old SD-card ADATA 16 GB class 10 works fine with ubuntu too. After using 3.12.0 I can see the card in gparted, but there is "no partition table", but there are a partition table and data on the card. Here is a link with description and reports: http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.linux.kernel.mmc/22822 Now (today) I updated and tried 3.12.0-031200rc7-generic. It's the same like before.

I updated the summary because I think the problem is with the Broadcom card reader device, not the SD card itself. Here's the SD/MMC maintainer info: SECURE DIGITAL HOST CONTROLLER INTERFACE (SDHCI) DRIVER M: Chris Ball <chris@printf.net> L: linux-mmc@vger.kernel.org I don't know whether they pay attention to bugzilla, so you might want to poke again on the mailing list. I also see bcm-kernel-feedback-list@broadcom.com, which is not listed for this device, but does look like a fairly generic Broadcom address. This card reader is notorious for being broken. Search for "BCM57765 linux" and you'll see what I mean. Just in the kernel bugzilla, I see the following bug reports for it, and none of them seems to be going anywhere. https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50221 NetXtreme BCM57765 unusable https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51211 Sony memory stick pro duo is not recognized https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59311 14e4:16bc SD card slot not working on Acer Aspire One 756 https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=73241 SDHCI PCI driver incompatible with 14e4:16bc / Broadcom BCM57765/57785 SDXC/MMC Card Reader
