output of lspci

On the laptop TX300CA the displayport doesn't recognize any connected monitor. I tried different adapters and monitors. They all work well with other laptops.

eDP1 connected primary 1920x1080+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 282mm x 165mm
   1920x1080 60.0*+ 40.0
   1400x1050 60.0
   1280x1024 60.0
   1280x960 60.0
   1024x768 60.0
   800x600 60.3 56.2
   640x480 59.9
VGA1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
HDMI1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
DP1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
HDMI2 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
DP2 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)

The laptop has only one HDMI and one displayport connector. Maybe the other recognized connectors aren'T carried out.

Output acpidump

Maybe this could help you to figureout why the monitors connected aren't recognized. The external Monitor was connected.

Does a passive DP->hdmi cable work by chance (it'll show up as one of the HDMIx connectors)?

Otherwise please boot with drm.debug=0xe added to your kernel cmdline, then plug in the DP screen and then grab the complete dmesg and attach it here. Doesn't really matter what userspace is running, this is all in the kernel.

I haven't got an DP->hdmi cable. I only have a DP->DVI cable.

dvi/hdmi work the same electrically, so that works, too. Are you trying to connect your screeen with the DP->dvi cable or with a native DP cable (and native DP screen)?

I've looked at your dmesg and the kernel can indeed not recognize any screen ...
Comment 7 mealejan 2013-10-28 15:26:34 UTC
I am trying to connect the monitor with DP->DVI cable. I don't have a native DP screen to test it. I also tried a DP->DVI->VGA. Nothing happend. I read that under Windows the adapter works.

Please try a recent kernel and report back.
Comment 9 mealejan 2014-08-14 19:05:42 UTC
As I don't have this device anymore I can't test it.

I'm afraid we'll just have to give up on this then. Thanks for the report, sorry we failed to deliver.
