All,

I suspect this is a duplicate of https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=62881.

The reason the backlight can be unexpectedly off after resume is because the backlight brightness is restored upon resume. However, if the backlight brightness was anything other than 100%, the backlight will be turned off completely. (Again, per bug #62881.)

The workaround for me is to mash on the backlight brightness keys until the backlight turns on again.

Thanks,
