Created attachment 87601 [details] do not evaluate _SDD if it does not exist. the problem is that libata-acpi is trying to evaluate no-exist _SDD/_GTF methods. Alan, IMO, we should check these control methods first and do not even try to evaluate these non-exist ACPI control methods, in libata-acpi.c. These ACPI error messages are really meaningless. A more proper fix to me is to 1. check the capability during acpi binding 2. take proper actions by checking these capability bits. what do you think?
ping ... Hi Marc: Please try rui's patch in the Comment #3. Thanks.
i sell this laptop a few week ago, i got a lenovo s430. Will check acpi, they seem to have some weird message.
... Ok. Mark the bug as unreproducible. If you met some problems on the s430, pleas file a new bug.
i know somebody with this machine, i will try to ask him to test this patch. thanks
Ok. Thanks. Please feel free to reopen this bug if he can.Mark this as will_fix_later first.
I have the same messages (pasted below) on Toshiba Tecra R850. My laptop has SDD OCZ Vertex 3 and standard HDD.
