Description scar 2012-09-09 10:24:00 UTC
Hello there. Since the latest kernel upgrade my arch box with three identical realtek 8139 NICs is useless.
Driver in use is 8139cp.
No TCP, UDP, ICMP traffic works on any of the interfaces to any hosts other than the box itself.
There are no errors in the logs.

The kernel in question is from the linux-3.5.3-1 package.
Manually downgrading to the previous (linux-3.4.8-1) package solves the problem.

Steps to reproduce:

Installing the package linux-3.5.3-1
Generating any type of traffic on the realtek 8139 card.

I know, this should be maybe upstream, but the bugzilla at kernel.org is officially supported only for kernel 2.6...

This is the right place to report it I suspect.

Can you attach a dmesg and lspci -vvxxx (as root) for both cases (working, 3.4 and after failing 3.5)
Comment 2 scar 2012-09-10 18:13:36 UTC
Not really.. Sorry, but this is a production router, so I cannot reproduce it as I want. Here is the current (3.4) lspci -vvxxx:

You will share a common 8139cp base with a working 3.4 if you revert #4, #3
and #1 from https://bugzilla.kernel.org/attachment.cgi?id=80221
in your 3.5 tree.

It will help a lot if you can plan a test for it.

See this, please. I still cannot reproduce it.
