Description diaryscrazyman 2012-08-17 16:02:52 UTC
My Acer Eye Crystal HD 1.3 megapixels doesn't work anymore. It worked with Ubuntu 10.04 with v4l version 1. It isn't recognized.

Hi,

For starters can you give us the output of lsusb on the machine in question, so that we know the USB-id of the camera?

Thanks,

Hans

As I said, webcam isn't recognized, even with lsusb.

Wait tonight. I will send you lsusb from 2.6 kernel. It worked with this version.
Comment 4 diaryscrazyman 2012-08-18 16:14:21 UTC
Here is the result of lsusb of 2.6 kernel :

Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 002 Device 004: ID 064e:d251 Suyin Corp.
Bus 002 Device 003: ID 0bda:8189 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL8187B Wireless 802.11g 54Mbps Network Adapter
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 8087:0024
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 0489:e04e Foxconn / Hon Hai
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0781:5530 SanDisk Corp.
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 8087:0024
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

Webcam is the Suyin Corp I think.

Hi,

Looking at your lsusb output, not only the webcam is not showing up with the newer kernel, but also the following devices:
0bda:8189 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL8187B Wireless
0781:5530 SanDisk Corp.

Where those *both* not plugged in with the lsusb with the newer kernel?

Where as with the newer kernel you've on USB 2.0 root hub more!!

So this seems some generic USB problem, can you please send a mail with the info from this bug to:
linux-usb <linux-usb@vger.kernel.org>, include lspci output and use something like "USB device no longer recognized with kernel <kernel-version>"

Thanks,

Hans

Okay, I sent the mail with lsusb and lspci of kernel 2.6 and 3.5. I am waiting for an answer now.

That will be better attach dmesg log.

Hello,

I have the same problem as diaryscrazyman@gmail.com. My laptop is an Acer Aspire V5-531. I've installed Linux Mint 14 on it, everything works smooth except my webcam which is an Acer Crystal Eye HD (built-in webcam).
Has anybody any fixes or pathes for that issue?
Thanks in advance.
