Description Michael Lynch 2012-07-21 01:06:14 UTC
Description: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Upstream and Debian(Uninstalled now)
 Release: 12.04
 Package: linux-image-3.2.0-26-generic 3.2.0-26.41
 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-26.41-generic 3.2.19
 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-26-generic x86_64

 Installed Alongside Windows 7 OS
Installed as seperate partition on same hard disc drive (Ubuntu 10.04.4 LTS (Lucid Lynx) Daily Build) - Installed now for bug testing purposes, it too failed.

Issue:
Using the shutdown commands in terminal and dialog interfaces only cause my laptop to restart.

Expected result:
When using terminal commands or the GUI to SHUTDOWN, I expect my laptop to completely power-off until I turn it back on.

Hi developers!

As much as I'd like to help out with getting this issue resolved, eventually I'm going to need the rest of my Hard Drive back. I know this issue is low on the priority list, but as much as I'd like to use Linux all the time, if there is nothing to be given to me to fix this issue, I'm going to have no choice but to move on and keep using Windows 7 & 8.

I'm planning on doing this within the next couple of weeks so I can get my HD back unless I get some input soon.

Thanks for your understanding and I hope we can get this resolved!

Hi Michael,

I'll close this bug as you mentioned you are not using Linux currently in ubuntu's bug page. Please feel free to re-open it once you start to use Linux again and still have this problem, thanks.
