there is no ACPI fan control in this laptops. so my suggestion would be 1. close the bug 2. check BIOS options and see if there is something related, e.g. "Fan always on when AC". 3. if no, upgrade your BIOS. maybe there are some platform hacks to enable the fan control, but that is out of my scope. Sorry that I can not help you on this.
Oh, BTW, you can try the tricks in bug #42605 and see if it helps.
(In reply to comment #3) > there is no ACPI fan control in this laptops. Is that just the fan control or do you mean all acpi sensors? I already have acpi package installed > so my suggestion would be > 1. close the bug I'll do that. > 2. check BIOS options and see if there is something related, e.g. "Fan always > on when AC". I haven't checked yet, I will soon though I am sure that there's nothing of this sort. > 3. if no, upgrade your BIOS. Bios is already latest! > maybe there are some platform hacks to enable the fan control, but that is > out > of my scope. Sorry that I can not help you on this. Thanks anyway. Thanks; I checked it but I prefer I stay with the current status for now; It seems to be working good now. Note: As a matter of fact, I think the fan is working well. It's not always on any more! Maybe it was just the Beta release! The temperatures stated in the initial Description are still relevant though I now think they are acceptable? Currently running: Description: Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS Release: 12.04
