Distribution: Slackware-Current Hardware Environment: AthlonXP 2000+ ASUS A7V333 MB 512 MB RAM Western Digital 100GB HDD Seagate 200 GB HDD NVIDIA GeForce4 4400 SB Audigy Platinum Software Environment: Dual Boot WinXP Pro/Linux Problem Description: I have been using the 2.6.x kernel series for some time. However when I upgraded to the 2.6.6 kernel recently, using my old configuration neither of my hard drives will mount and my system will freeze at boot. When booting up the machine I get these error messages: hda: IRQ probe failed (0xfd7a) hdb: IRQ probe failed (0xfd7a) hda: max request size: 128 KiB followed by an *infinite* number of IRQ probe failed messages. Steps to reproduce: boot my machine with a 2.6.6 kernel (no problems with 2.6.5)
Does booting with "acpi=noirq" parameter work?
Yes...This does solve the problem...Although I never had to do this with any of the previous 2.6.x kernels...This is why I thought it may be a bug...=)
