output of my lspci -vnvn

Distribution: Ubuntu 10.10
Hardware: Lenovo 3000 N200 laptop

With stock kernel 2.6.35-24-generic (2.6.35.8) I configured my system to clone current screen output to TV connected by s-video. Everything worked fine.

I installed kernel 2.6.26 and 2.6.37-rc7 and using the same settings and programs now I have black screen on TV. If I boot to 2.6.35 it works fine.

I have no idea why it's happening, I have double-checked my configuration and cable connections, rebooted a few times, yet problem persist on new kernels.

How can I provide more information about this bug?

Was directed here from Ubuntu bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-release-notes/+bug/763688

Distribution: Ubuntu 11.04
Hardware: Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo Pi 1505

I got a kernel update this morning. It has *partially* fixed the problem. If I plug my machine into the TV via S-Video an image now appears. However, every 2 minutes (approx) the TV screen (but not the laptop monitor) flashes blue (it displays blue if there is no signal or the laptop is not plugged in).

The updates were for "Linux kernel headers for version 2.6.38 on x86/x86_64". Packages linux-headers-2.6.38-10-generic and friends were added.

Please let me know if I can provide any more info.

As commented in downstream bug: I'm now using Ubuntu 11.10 and the issue does not occur with kernel 3.0.0-12 or 3.0.0-13. I resolved it in Ubuntu 11.04 by installing a mainline kernel (approx 3.1), which I've since disabled in favor of the kernel released with 11.10.

It appears that some downstream users are still experiencing a black TV screen.

Tried 3 laptops with a GM965 and S-video to TV and it fails (TV stays black) on
 Ubuntu 11.04/Ubuntu 11.10
 debian wheezy (2.6.32-5-686, 3.1.0-1-686-pae, 3.2.0-1-686-pae)

The S-Video works with Live CD of
 Ubuntu 10.04
 Puppy 5.25 (2.6.33.2)

I also have a GM965:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (primary) (rev 0c)
00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (secondary) (rev 0c)

and S-video does not work with stock Ubuntu kernel in Kubuntu 12.04, worked in 10.04. Everything works with xrandr except that the picture does not appear on the TV. I will try a mainline kernel.

I have installed the mainline kernel '3.3.0-030300-generic' but I still don't get any output on S-video.

Downgraded to stock Ubuntu kernel 2.6.35-32-generic, TV-out works.

Sorry for the long delay in looking at this, your bug unfortunately fell through the cracks. Can you please boot both the working and the broken kernels with drm.debug=0xe and attach the complete dmesg for both cases?

Also please attach the output of xrandr --verbose on the working kernel with the clone configuration all set up.
