Description Saverio Miroddi 2024-07-15 10:31:09 UTC
On my AMD 7950x-based system, approximately 25% of the times, the system doesn't wake up from sleep.

The problem is caused by the firmware of the motherboard (MAG B650M MORTAR WIFI (MS-7D76)); the very first version of the BIOS (A10) doesn't suffer from this problem, but any subsequent version does.

I've contacted the MSI support, but they've been useless, and the firmware changelog is equally useless.

After posting bug https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=218982, and observing the fix, I was wondering if there is some way to debug this problem and/or work it around, as I presume that the cause may be related.

I compile the kernel by itself. When I've assembled the machine, the kernel was, I think, already version 6.8 or 6.9. I haven't tested previous kernel versions.
