I have archlinux upgraded system last sunday.

Today after unlock xscreensaver on OpenBox, the screen connected to VGA-1 port remained black. I need to switch off and switch on mypc to make work it.

The is the log from journalctl:

I use the video driver nouveau for my NVIDIA GeForce GT 710.

I attached the output from lshw.

It appears that the error you pasted is some sort of hang which has nothing to do with nouveau. What indication do you have that nouveau is involved in any way with this issue?

What was the previous kernel version that worked fine?

I'm not an expert, so I thought that the error by the time could be a issue in video driver.

The last kernel was 5.8.1.arch1-1. It was upgraded last sunday.

I left mypc 2 hours unattended and when I typed the password in the monitor that before remained black (I can see the password input window), now has the same issue.

I searched on journalctl and I didn't see the same error. If fact I don't see anyhing important.

I tried executing:

xrandr --auto --output VGA-1 --mode 1280x1024 --right-of DVI-D-1

and the desktop swap monitors, but the monitor black still remains black.

It could be a hardware error. How can I know if is a hardware error?

Oscar

After research I found the problem: The monitor is broken.

Today has happen again. I switched off my pc and after a while I switched it on.

The monitor that fails switched on and after a second the screen switched black, so I switch off my pc and disconnected the other monitor DVI-D-1 and swiched on my pc. The monitor VGA-1 switched on one second during BIOS messages and switched black.

I switched off my pc and disconnected the VGA-1 monitor and connected the DVI-D-1 monitor by the VGA port and switched on my pc. Everything worked fine.

So I guess that my monitor VGA-1 is broken.

Sorry for disturbing you, but with the error message I though that could be an issue in nouveau driver and reporting the bug could help them to solve it.

I close the bug as invalid.

Thanks for your support
Oscar
