Description Jean-Louis Dupond 2019-10-02 12:09:14 UTC
I have a Dell WD15 dock which has 2 audio jacks.

Both are shown correctly in ALSA/PulseAudio, but when playing audio, both outputs remain silent.
When the dock is tested on a Windows machine, there is audio output. So the dock seems to work fine.

alsamixer doesn't show any controls for both outputs are they are removed via a quirk.
I tried building 5.3.2 with the following patch reverted:
https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/sound/usb?h=v5.4-rc1&id=adcdd0d5a1cb779f6d455ae70882c19c527627a8

Then I can set the volume level via alsamixer, but still no sound playing!.

Did also a test via aplay, but neither this does give me any sound.

Also tested the following patch:
https://mailman.alsa-project.org/pipermail/alsa-devel/2019-June/151048.html

But no change

This seems to have starting to work in latest kernel / pulseaudio. Closing!
