Are you running PulseAudio? If you don't please try it - with pure ALSA the mic on my x360 (though a much older model) also doesn't work.

HP Spectre x360 2019 owner here. Same problem, tried hdajackretask, ALSA - can't get any input from microphone. Is there anything that I can provide?

It could be an issue with the HDA Verbs. there is a similar issue for ALC295 https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=195457

The first posting is from April 2019 and the last is from November 2019 and now it's January 2020. Does it mean it might NEVER happen or it is easily possible that another 6-12 month will pass? Is it possible to provide an estimation how long this might take?
It's fixed for me now on Kernel 5.14. I'm on Manjaro.
i have freezes with https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v5.14.2/amd64/ on ubuntu 20.04 a pair of seconds after the boot :(
