After upgrading to 4.20-rc1 i experienced a start job running for Entropy Harvesting Daemon and Time synchronization and after about 20 seconds CPU lock. The start jobs never end even after 4 minutes limit. They reset and they start start job again. Workaround i found around this is reseting BIOS settings to default and then start the system. This time it boots up the system and the 2 services too. Never experienced this issue on kernel 4.19. Also system starts OK if i disable Automatic Time Synchronization in GNOME and disable haveged. But this causes time issues in the system since time isnt totally in sync and can be out of sync quite a bit after few reboots. Hardware: Acer Nitro 5 AN515-42 AMD Ryzen 5 2500U with VEGA 8 AMD Radeon RX 560X Updated to latest BIOS v1.11 (Issue was still there even before BIOS upgrade). System: Antergos Linux with testing repos enabled. Kernel built from AUR package linux-mainline. Cannot post a dmesg or journalctl since i cant boot into system when the start jobs are running. P.S: I dont exactly know what is causing this issue so i dont know if this is the right section to post this.
Ah this should be sent to linux-kernel@vger.kernel.org im sorry.
Also the start jobs start after Update UTMP about Boot/Shutdown service started. IDK how to take a log from the last boot. Cant find any info on duckduckgo either.
Issue was with Acer IOMMU and BIOS issues. Adding ivrs_ioapic[4]=00:14.0 ivrs_ioapic[5]=00:00.2 to boot commands fixes all issues with booting on this laptop.
