Description stevengruspier 2017-05-28 21:32:25 UTC
After putting in a CD into my LG blu-ray player/writer and ripping songs off of it, the second CD I put in will not be detected. To detect it, the computer needs to be restarted.

My computer is up-to-date for system updates.

Fedora 26
Linux Kernel 4.11.3-300.fc26.x86_64

This issue can be reproduced with Rhythmbox. Previously, the CD can be inserted and Nautilus will pick it up immediately. This is not the case currently. Using Asunder, I am able to get the CD detected every time. I suspect that the program runs a script to check cdda://sr0/ every time, which fixes the issue, but this is more of a work around than an actual fix to the problem

Also suffering from this. It really seems to be CD's and not DVD's.

I'm running Arch Linux, here's an output from uname:
$ uname -a
Linux Juniper 4.11.7-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Sat Jun 24 09:07:09 CEST 2017 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Packages are all up to date here as well. Also can confirm that restarting the computer is a fair work-around, except there are sometimes still I/O errors on files resulting from a rip. The only program that does appear to be able to give me a clean rip is cdparanoia. Many other programs simply report I/O errors, including "mount" and "isoinfo".

I had written up a few notes, left some logs over here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=227542

And someone else on AskUbuntu seems to be having the same issue

My issue is resolved by downgrading udisks from 2-2.7.1-2 to 2.6.4-1 and rebooting gdm. Not a kernel bug for me.

p.s. As far as I can see, a fix was pushed in the latest libblockdev (2.10-1).
