Journal log for boot problems with kernel 4.9.6-1 in arch linux

After update to arch linux packages including kernel 4.9.6-1 for Lenovo S540 laptop boot to graphics fails, though boot to console completes. Journal log shows EFI memory map errors, and leading later to a kernel oops with the following in the logs - "Oops: 0000 [#1] PREEMPT SMP". I will attach the full journal log to this report.

Downgrading the kernel back to 4.8.13-1-ARCH the machine boots normally to graphics again.

I have until now blacklisted the radeon module as per:

$ cat /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
install radeon /bin/false

But this no longer seems to work in kernel 4.9.6

Journal log for normal boot with kernel 4.8.13-1

No occurrence of any lines referring to amdgpu in the boot process with the successfully booting kernel. It appears that the Kernel Oops with kernel 4.9.6-1 relates primarily to the amdgpu problem.
Comment 4 Mike Cloaked 2017-01-30 20:23:53 UTC
The solution to this problem is not the kernel - but that there is a a relatively new package in arch xf86-video-amdgpu which was not installed in my system, but was needed as soon as the 4.9.x series kernels was installed. Once that package was installed, and I regenerated the initramfs including the amdgpu module, then the system now boots to graphics normally.

I will close this report now - though the report may help other users who are not aware of the need to install the new driver if they have amd graphics on their system.
