Created attachment 245921 [details] skb_over_panic on 4.9-rc6 After successfully installing Arch Linux on my Surface Pro 4, I'm never able to install anything as using pacman via wifi crashes the system. This occurs on 4.8 and up until 4.9-rc6 and does not occur on the 4.4 LTS kernel, nor on the 4.7 kernel that I have on my Archiso. In order to actually get any error output, I had to shrink the console font and actually scan the tablet, so I have an image of the error output. This is from 4.9-rc6.
Apparently it uses mwifiex driver. Better to add that to the title so that developers know what driver this is about. (I can't do that myself)
There seems to be a patch in a bug report on this driver on a different bug tracker which might be helpful to a driver developer. https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=188351, the patch in this report fixes the problem but I'm not quite sure it's something you would want to merge into the kernel in its current state. Would be great if someone looked over this and verified if this is indeed the correct way to fix this or if another approach needs to be taken.
Hi Jeff, Do you still see the issue(latest Arch Linux)? Regards, Ganapathi
Sorry, I no longer have my Surface nor do I currently use Arch.
