I hit this while running xfs_fsr on some files. I do not have any issues running 4.1.27 (and below). System continues running without problem, no files corrupted.

After three stack dumps, no more errors appears, maybe related to DMA-API debug?

Currently, running 4.4.23, no issues. I guess this was fixed in 4.4.17 with commit 5b3114b2af2fe1cf6d465d594faefaea6c1f328b [mm, sl[au]b: add __GFP_ATOMIC to the GFP reclaim mask]

I am currently running with min_free_kbytes with 32MiB instead of default of ~8MiB, to see if happens at some time.

I just hit the issue again, at least this time was due memory pressure, and high swap activity due writing to tmpfs, reading from xfs.
According to my understand about debug message, there are at least sufficient free pages of order 0 in all zones. So this is a bug? Any hint how to track it?

Seems to be "fixed" (workaround?) by enabling TRANSPARENT_HUGEPAGE+COMPACTION.
