Description dmrickert 2015-06-16 17:17:08 UTC
When changing the resolution from the native display, the screen goes black and does not revert to the last setting. At this point, a reboot is required to fix it.

I have tested on multiple Macbooks, if it does not have an NVIDIA graphics card than there is no problem. I'm booting 14.04 off of a USB stick and using the Nouveau drivers. I've seen this with both the 3.16 and 3.19 kernels.

Steps to Reproduce:
-On a MacBook Pro with hybrid graphics, boot into a fresh Ubuntu 14.04 installation with kernels 3.16 or 3.19.
-System Settings > Displays > Pick a new resolution

Also happens if you use xrandr from the command line.

Additional Information:
-My problem seems to be identical to this user https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-nouveau/+bug/1443989
