Description Luke-Jr 2003-07-23 20:35:04 UTC
Distribution: Gentoo Linux
Hardware Environment: P3 800 MHz; SB16 ISA; BX133-RAID motherboard
Problem Description:
XMMS doesn't start playing while trying to play using OSS emulation (it sits at the 0
seconds played until stopped) and freezes up if trying to play using ALSA output.
Nothing else can output audio, either. Trying to unload ALSA modules (after all audio
apps have been exited and fuser /dev/sound/* /dev/snd/* cease output) fails because
"snd" is in use, even though there is nothing apparently using it. This configuration
does work in a 2.4.20-gentoo kernel with the ALSA driver.
If I'm missing any details, let me know and I'll post them. Email (Luke-Jr@gentoo.org)
or IM (Luke-Jr@im.gentoo.org) me if SSH access is needed for further investigation
(please note whether you want SSH access with 2.4 or 2.6 kernel booted).
