Description Jack 2015-01-27 14:45:19 UTC
Distribution: Arch Linux
Hardware: Realtek RTL8188CE (WiFi-Controller)

I have a really weird hiccup issue with Kernel 3.18. For example when I ping a hardwired device in my network, every few seconds it takes a tremendous amount of time to receive/send. See the output of ping: http://pastebin.com/FKKfvE7G (BTW, the same occurs when pinging google.com)
Running processes: http://pastebin.com/SWtVTTrP

This issue does also exist in other usecases, such as web surfing, gaming etc.
The issue does not exist in Windows 8 (on the same hardware).

After downgrading Arch Linux to Kernel 3.17.6, the problem was resolved.

PS: I hope I posted this in the correct section.

Possibly related bug:

Comment 3 Larry Finger 2015-01-27 16:58:42 UTC
There are a number of bugs in 3.18.0 that are resolved in later upddates. The last of these will be in 3.18.4 that should be out soon.

Does 3.18.4 help?

This bug is not related to 92161 - that is a different issue.

Could someone change the status to "needinfo" from the OP? My account does not have sufficient privilege.

What info do you need?
(First bug report here, I'm a bit of a noob :-) )

This is (most likely) the same issue: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90571
Comment 7 Larry Finger 2015-01-27 23:54:59 UTC
There is a question in comment 3. The needinfo is with regard to that query.

I agree that 90571 is probably the same bug.

In 3.18.4-1-ARCH the issue seems to be fixed.
(There are still occasional hiccups, although I think those are because other devices are also using WiFi)
