Description Artem S. Tashkinov 2006-06-08 03:34:46 UTC
Most recent kernel where this bug did not occur: not known
Distribution: FC5
Hardware Environment: CPU Sempron 3400; GigaByte K8NS Pro Motherboard; nForce3
250GB chipset; Two HDD on the same IDE channel; Two SATA drives
Software Environment:
Problem Description:

1) Copying a large file between two HDD with newly created empty FAT32
partitions on the same IDE channel gives these results (Linux runned with no
background tasks, i.e. with zero CPU load):

Windows XP SP2 with nVidia IDE drivers: ~33Mb/sec (CPU usage ~ 15%)
Linux: ~22Mb/sec (CPU usage ~ 10%)

2) The same situation but two SATA drives (empty FAT32 partitions)

Windows XP SP2 with nVidia IDE drivers: ~38Mb/sec
Linux: ~27Mb/sec

P.S. File reading on the both drives gives an average 55Mb/s throughput
