Status: REJECTED UNREPRODUCIBLE

Description Martin Mokrejs 2005-08-04 22:00:32 UTC
Most recent kernel where this bug did not occur: 2.6.12
Distribution: Gentoo
Hardware Environment: ASUS P4C800E-Deluxe, BIOS 1.19
Software Environment:

Still broken in 2.6.13-rc5-git2.

Problem Description:

Doing "init 0" turns the power off but the power comes up immediately again.
Is not fixed by turning wither on or off kexec, nor hangcheck timer.
It was reported on lkml under thread "init 0 stopped working" and confirmed on
ASUS P4P800, BIOS 1.19 whereas 2.6.12.1 works good.

Maybe it is related to this (or same):

Check message with subject:
[2.6.12-git8] ACPI shutdown fails to power off machine

So it seems there are more boxes out there suffering from the same
problem I reported some days ago

michal.k.k.piotrowski@gmail.com reported that on the P4P800 machine on lkml, but
is not registered in bugzilla so cannot be Cc:ed. :(

Fixed in 2.6.13.rc5-git4 or at least two attempts worked so far.
