Bug 46681

Summary: RealTek PCI-E Card Reader support - CONFIG_RTS_PSTOR
Product: Drivers Reporter: MM (c3904a4a)
Component: StagingAssignee: drivers_staging (drivers_staging)
Status: RESOLVED DUPLICATE
Severity: high CC: alan
Priority: P1
Hardware: All
OS: Linux
Kernel Version: 3.2.28 Subsystem:
Regression: No Bisected commit-id:

Description MM 2012-08-29 23:48:08 UTC
CONFIG_RTS_PSTOR rts_pstor does not work in 3.2.28, this is a known problem showing up for people, it shows up in the logs as:

Bad target number (1:0)
Bad target number (2:0)
Bad target number (3:0)
Bad target number (4:0)
Bad target number (5:0)
Bad target number (6:0)
Bad target number (7:0)
rts_pstor: device scan complete

Since this is a known problem that has been fixed in the 3.4x & 3.5x kernels, I did not submit any information on my box, I'm simply asking the Kernel Team to PLEASE submit this fix to the next 3.2.x kernel release also...

In the mean time, if there's a patch I can use, I'd appreciate a submission of that here, since at present I'm not able to use my card reader...

Thanks for your time, I look forward to this fix...

Oh I did find this report also submitted;

https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42640

Staging drivers have no support from the Kernel Developers?

If that is the case I did contact the author/developer at wei_wang@realsil.com.cn to see about also getting a fix for this in the next 3.2x kernel release...

THANKS

This isn't a support system anyway. Support is via whoever you paid (if anyone) for the distro.

Staging drivers are stuff that needs work. In each case the TODO directory generally gives guidance of what is needed so that people can get involved in fixing it.
