2.6.12-rc3 doesn't have the burst-EC mode patch but 2.6.12-rc2-mm3 does have. 
maybe this is the reason.

kernel 2.6.12-rc3-mm2 show real batt. info :-)  
kernel 2.6.11.8 don't.
