Same problem with Acer Aspire One D270 :

I have kernel 3.4.4

acerhdf doesn't load automatically
using modprobe acerhdf, I get the same error message but for BIOS version 1.04.

dmesg gives :
[ 1144.527443] acerhdf: Acer Aspire One Fan driver, v.0.5.25
[ 1144.527470] acerhdf: unknown (unsupported) BIOS version Acer/AOD270/V1.04, please report, aborting!

Fan is off and doesn't start.
cat /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone0/mode gives "enabled"
cat /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp gives "50 000"

Fan is off although /etc/modprobe.d/acerhdf.conf is :
options acerhdf verbose=0 fanon=62000 fanoff=45000 interval=10 kernelmode=1

Step to reproduce :
On recent version of Acer Aspire One with recent bios version (v1.03+ if you trust google search), load acerhdf with "sudo modprobe acerhdf".
