Distribution: Mandrake 10.0 Official
Hardware Environment: MB Soltek SL75KAV (VIA KT-133A)
Software Environment: gcc-2.95.3
Problem Description: When I try to poweroff with ACPI, I see Line "acpi_power_off called", and computer reboots... Same bug was in 2.6.<=8, but now I use kernel 2.4.27, And foud here same bug.

Steps to reproduce: halt, poweroff, shutdown -p now

You've seen this failure in 2.4.27, and in 2.6.8.1 
I assume it is still broken in 2.6.9? 
Did any version of an ACPI-enabled kernel poweroff correctly on this system?

Others have reported this issue, but only when connected to AC. 
Does this still fail for you if you're running on battery?

This failure is in 2.4.27 (Maybe in other 2.4.x, I don't know), and in 2.6.x older than 2.6.9. In 2.6.9 it poweroff properly... I hawe Desktop system and can't use battery. OK, I will test patch from bug 3669.

I don't understand, how can I apply patch from bug 3669, as it is for 2.6.9
kernel? In my 2.4.27 source-tree files for applying patch not even exists...

thanks for clarifying that 2.6.9 power-off's correctly
and that you see the issue in 2.4.27.

yes, the patch in bug 3669 is for 2.6, so it will not help here.

Can you test the latest snapshot of 2.4.28?

I patched my 2.4.27 kernel with patch-2.4.28-rc4.bz2. Now it poweroff properly!
