Distribution: Debian Unstable (Sarge)
Hardware Environment: P4 2.4Gigs, Intel i865G Chipset, IBM ThinkCentre
Software Environment: Debian Unstable with all the updates
Problem Description: When the system is left untouched for about 12 hours, the
system time becomes unstable.  Attached is the output of "while [ true ]; do
hwclock; date; done"

Steps to reproduce: System when left untouched for quote some time is producing
the problem.  The problem isn't occuring on "Fedora Core II with 2.6.6-1.435" on
the same system.  It isn't occuring with the same kernel on an intel 845 chipset
based p3 system.

No crond or time daemons running. (Only sshd, xfsd, syslogd and klogd running)
Am available for any kind of data or inputs regarding this.

Output of "while [ true ]; do hwclock; date; done"
(Note the system time change - its always between 10:14:11 & 10:14:14")
(This snapshot was taken 13 mins after "hwclock --hctosys")

Could you try the patch attached to bug #2544 and see if it helps?

but this seems to solve the problem.
Its already more than 2 days without any problem.
