Description Manu Thambi 2004-10-14 23:41:43 UTC
Distribution: Fedora Core 2
Hardware Environment: Dell Inspiron 4000 laptop
Software Environment: doesn't matter
Problem Description: When changing the system state to S3, it suspends but the
screen is left on. I think the backlight fails to turn off. The laptop wakes
up from sleep properly. The same behaviour is shown whether we do this from X
windows or the console.
Also, while in X, "xset dpms force off" works correctly and turns off the
display.

Steps to reproduce:
boot the system.
echo mem > /sys/power/state
